13 Hours After 10K
Well, the results are in!
The fam-bam ran the 10K in 1 hour and 25 minutes. Quite an accomplishment for our out-of-shape short little legs.
We didn't die.
Although, we are quite sore.
This will definitely make getting a Christmas tree interesting because the farm we always go to is on an epic hill that isn't fun even when you're in an un-sore state.
Oh well!
Thanksgiving was awesome:
Smoked salmon on crackers with cream cheese, red onion and capers.
Honey brined turkey.
Twice baked sweet potatoes with maple spice butter.
Wild rice, craisin, sunflower seed, and spicy sausage stuffing.
Ginger cranberry sauce.
Mashed potatoes.
Rolls.
Canned cranberry sauce.
Pumpkin pie.
Mincemeat pie.
Killer chocolate cheesecake.
I now have the world's largest food baby and now... well of course, I'll have to start a December diet!
I need to lose just enough weight to make room for all those lovely pounds I'll gain during Christmas time.
Oh boy!

Well.
Um.
I will probably be walking around downtown tonight.
Maybe some dancing.
That counts for preparing, right?

9 Days Until the 10k
I decided to be super productive towards getting ready for the 10k and I made brownies.
Okay, fine, so maybe brownies don't really help, but it's for a dinner I'm going to tonight.
Besides, I was out of brownie mix, and there is nothing more fun and satisfying than finding a new recipe online and trying it out. Today's recipe is brought to you buy plugging in "Deliciously Disgusting Brownies" into Google search and it came up with this site:
http://chocolatechic.wordpress.com/2010/02/09/february-9-3/
Oh, my goodness.
They are delicious. Very gooey, they're like ultimate fudge brownies. Amazing!!!
I did cook them for 10 minutes longer than the recipe calls for. Still gooey and delicious though, I'll be saving this recipe to the bookmarks.
The brownies did help a little because while they were cooking, I found a 10k route at the local park!
Jamaica (the guide dog I'm puppy sitting) is conked out again though, she played for 30 minutes today and fell asleep. She is super tired!
So I haven't decided if I'll take her to the park yet or not.
I'll keep you updated.
-------------------------------
Well, I ended up lounging until the dinner party so... I guess that means I didn't contribute to my 10k readiness.
My sister seems to think that we did the 10k in 80 minutes last year.
And for the sake of this year's time, I hope to all heaven that isn't right! I do not want to try and beat 80 minutes.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Well I haven't posted in a while...
So!
Let's see... how to go from couch potato to runner in two weeks.
Okay, not actually, but it is Tuesday and next Thursday (Thanksgiving) I will be doing the annual "Run to Feed the Hungry" 10K with my family.
And my sister and I always try to beat our previous year's time. Unfortunately we ran last years in something like 1 hour and 40 minutes.
WHAT WERE WE THINKING!?
We should have focused on decreasing our time by one to five minutes, not fifteen! Crazies.
Anyways, this is me going from no physical fitness for the last few months to avid marathoner (but not really because I'll probably give up this whole running thing as soon as the 10k is over).
Sunday: 1 hour walk.
Monday: 1 hour 10 minute walk.
Tuesday: um... nothing?
Give me a break, it's only 8:30 I could still do something! Maybe I'll do a push-up or something.
Besides, I've been walking back and forth to the fridge all day!
My family's guide dog in training I'm puppy sitting for the week was rather tired today so I just took her to the dog park to play. A walk on leash may not have been the best.
Also, I made corn chowder tonight. Who can walk/jog when there is lovely cream filled chowder to be had!?
So anyways, I'll try to post tomorrow about my progress. Haha.
