What's so attractive about a beautiful disaster?

I consider myself a relatively classy lady who defers to tom-boy style when I'm not feeling up to the task of creating a more classy outfit.
I'm not exactly a slave to fashion, but I do buy up-to-date pieces if I feel they have staying power.
So what's up with my sudden interest in the "beautiful disaster" category? I've watched all four seasons of the British show Skins. What can I say? I'm hooked.
It has the same kind of draw as The Hills, Jersey Shore or The O.C. although, I never understood or liked those shows. I suppose teenagers doing the same stupid things sounds better with a British accent than an American one.
Plus, Skins doesn't present themselves as a reality show. It's scripted, you know that, and it's written well. Or at least, well enough to keep me hooked.
I would like to blame Skins for my recent interest in disaster women.
Examples to follow.

I'd say my more classy going out looks tend to be along these lines:

However, the show Skins has me wanting to use characters like Cassie and Effy for style inspiration:

I know Cassie and Effy have wildly different style choices, with Cassie being bright and colorful with crazy pieces and Effy having a much more subdued, black and grey outfit choice, I still can't help being drawn to both their styles. Mainly because they both scream disaster.
Seriously though, how can you not look at the last picture of Effy with the dark eyes and lips and not go completely gaga!? With that wild hair too.
I will admit to hair envy of both of these girls... my hair has been straighter than straight since the day I was born. Nice in the sense that I never have to do anything with it but annoying in that even if I wanted to do fun stuff it would never stay.

Oh well. I'll see if any more grunge-disaster inspiration comes my way. If not, I'm sure it will just blow over and I'll go back to my old Calvin-Klein-coveting classy self.
